Speakers

Emma Green, RD

Registered Dietitian

Emma is a registered UK dietitian, currently specialising in home enteral tube feeding.

Aimee McEvilly, RD

Paediatric Dietitian

Aimee is a Paediatric Dietitian, with over 10 years of experience working as a registered Dietitian for the NHS. Her current role is as a Clinical Specialist in General Paediatrics at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. One of her main areas of expertise and one she feels passionately about, is helping to manage children with food allergies. It can be tough getting to the bottom of your child's unexplained symptoms, especially when there is lots of conflicting advice out there. Aimee can provide prompt support and advice on how to reduce your child’s symptoms and build confidence with your feeding journey. Aimee is a Mum of one, with first-hand experience managing reflux, weaning and feeding a fussy toddler. Her advice will, therefore, always be manageable, practical and tailored to the needs of your family. Outside of 1-1 appointments, Aimee has experience delivering lectures at Birmingham City University and Aston University on dietetic topics such as ‘Managing Multiple Food Allergies’ and ‘An Introduction to Common Paediatric Nutritional Problems,’ Additionally, Aimee has written articles for the Practice Nursing Journal.

Aimee offers expert advice in the following areas;

  • Food intolerances/allergies. This includes single allergies such as cow’s milk protein allergy, multiple food allergies and oral allergy syndrome
  • Weaning, including delayed weaning
  • Reflux and colic
  • Diarrhoea
  • Constipation
  • Faltering growth
  • Tube feeding and tube weaning, this includes blended diet
  • Vegan and vegetarian diets
  • Selective eating
  • Autism and selective eating

Martha van der Linde, RD

Community Paediatric Dietitian

Marti is a practicing dietitian with 18 years of experience, 16 of which is in paediatrics. She has a mixed caseload of children that are tube fed, and patients with various challenges such as: faltering growth, genetic conditions, degenerative diseases, cerebral palsy, and other neurological problems.

In her daily practice, she sees patients with complex needs who sometimes gradually deteriorate and manage less and less orally, meaning they switch increasingly from food to tube feeding. Some of the tube fed children Marti sees have severe GI symptoms (vomiting, reflux, constipation and poor gut motility). These children all would benefit from a feed that contains ‘real food’, and parents are often interested in a blended diet.

Compleat® paediatric presented a unique solution in these cases and was successful in reducing symptoms with very good tolerance results. Consequently, Marti took part in a retrospective study where patients were switched over. This presented her with an opportunity to review her practice and look more at patient outcomes. Marti has supported NHSc through webinars, supporting RWE and conducting clinical trials for innovation e.g project Medley and Cocktail.
